By default, Microsoft Office Word 2007 uses balloons to display deletions, comments, formatting changes, and content that has moved. If you want to see all your changes inline, you can change settings so that tracked changes and comments display the way you want.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Track changes with balloons\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/50c20e7b-de73-4265-94e8-bbbafc480f0e.gif\" alt=\"Track changes with balloons\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Balloons (1) show formatting changes, comments, and deletions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ocpAlert\">\n<p class=\"ocpAlertSection\"><b class=\"ocpNote\">Note:<\/b>\u00a0To prevent you from inadvertently distributing documents that contain tracked changes and comments, Word displays tracked changes and comments by default. <b class=\"ocpUI\">Final Showing Markup<\/b> is the default option in the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Display for Review<\/b> box.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Open the document that you want to revise.<\/li>\n<li>On the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Review<\/b> tab, in the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Tracking<\/b> group, click the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b> button. The <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track changes<\/b> button becomes highlighted, as shown in the following figure.<img class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Track Changes button turned on\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/a65bbabd-7521-4451-82f2-b553f3517b3b.png\" alt=\"Track Changes button turned on\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Optional. Add a track changes indicator to the status bar. Right-click the status bar, and click <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b>. Click the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b> indicator on the status bar to turn on or turn off track changes.<img class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Track changes indicator\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/b76e9169-3efa-4872-b8c5-535f1b8d8285.gif\" alt=\"Track changes indicator\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Make the changes that you want by inserting, deleting, moving, or formatting text or graphics. You can also add comments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"ocpAlert\">\n<p class=\"ocpAlertSection\"><b class=\"ocpNote\">Note:<\/b>\u00a0If you use change tracking and then save your document as a Web page (.htm or .html), tracked changes will appear on your Web page.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><b class=\"ocpLegacyBold\">To turn Track changes off: <\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>On the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Review<\/b> tab, in the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Tracking<\/b> group, click the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b> button.The <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b> button is no longer highlighted, as shown in the following image.<img class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Word Ribbon Image\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/87eaf077-2b9d-4c69-85bf-a9537a8a4286.gif\" alt=\"Word Ribbon Image\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you customized the status bar to include a track changes indicator, clicking <b class=\"ocpUI\">Track Changes<\/b> in the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Tracking<\/b> group will also turn off the indicator in the status bar.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ocpAlert\">\n<p class=\"ocpAlertSection\"><b class=\"ocpNote\">Note:<\/b>\u00a0Turning off change tracking does not eliminate the tracked changes in your document. To ensure that there are no more tracked changes in your document, be sure that all changes are showing, and then use the <b class=\"ocpUI\">Accept<\/b> or <b class=\"ocpUI\">Reject<\/b> commands for each change in the document.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Be aware that there are various ways to hide tracked changes or comments, but all the changes that were made while the Track Changes feature was turned on and all the comments that were inserted remain part of the document until they are accepted or rejected (or, in the case of comments, deleted).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Hiding tracked changes\u2014for example, under <b class=\"ocpUI\">Show Markup<\/b>, clearing the check mark for <b class=\"ocpUI\">Insertions and Deletions<\/b>\u2014doesn&#8217;t delete existing tracked changes or comments from the document.
